Multi-channel Urodynamics

Multichannel urodynamic testing (MUT) is a modality used in the evaluation of lower urinary tracht symptoms (LUTS) and urinary incontinence (UI) to direct therapy.

It consists at least of three components:

A cystometrogram (CMG) to assess the filling phase
Urethral pressure profilometry (UPP) to assess the integrity of the urethral sphincter
A voiding study to assess the voiding mechanism

MUT is superior to single-channel urodynamics in its ability to provide direct measurement of detrusor function and to assess the urethral sphincter.
